Masajid Vandalism

Dear Community Leader,

Assalamu alaikum. You may have learned of the vandalism and burglaries that occurred in mosques in Anniston, Gadsden, and Tuscaloosa in recent days. Donation boxes were stolen from both Anniston Islamic Center and Gadsden Islamic Society on March 10, and two safes--one containing a handwritten Quran of sentimental value--were stolen from the Islamic Society of Tuscaloosa on March 14.

All three incidents have been reported to law enforcement for further investigation.

Security camera footage from the Anniston and Gadsden burglaries show the same person of interest, who is also believed to be involved in similar incidents that occurred out-of-state in February. Images of the individual are included below to aid you in taking precautions for the benefit of your community, and so that anyone with information may report it to law enforcement and to CAIR-Alabama at 205-313-6489.
