National Muslim Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill
The 3rd National Muslim Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C. on May 1 - 2, and you can help. This annual event is hosted by the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations (USCMO), of which CAIR is a founding member. The event aims to connect national, regional, and state Muslim organizations and community members with their elected representatives in Congress. The advocacy day will focus on promoting a legislative agenda in support of equality and social justice for all Americans. Hundreds of Muslim delegates from across the nation are expected to participate.
Last year, delegates from Alabama attended Muslim Advocacy Hill Day for the first time. This year, we would like to return to Washington, D.C. with a larger delegation. In the current political climate, it is more important than ever for our community to show a strong presence on Capitol Hill. It's important that we connect directly with our congressional representatives to advocate for our rights as American Muslims, and for our institutions and our immigrants and refugees.
Would you or someone you know like to participate in Muslim Advocacy Hill Day this year? Click here to register and forward this alert to others who may want to attend. Contact us at 205-313-6489 or firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
The cost of the trip (approximately $950 for flight, lodging, ground transportation, and meals) prevents some members of our community from participating. If you're not able to attend, but still want to participate in a crucial way, sponsor a delegate or contribute toward the sponsorship of a delegate by making a donation here. Ask your employer or organization to do the same. Help our community make an impact on Capitol Hill.
