SCOTUS Decision on Muslim Ban (Press Release)




[Birmingham, AL 06/26/18]– Today, following the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Muslim Ban in Hawaii v. Trump, CAIR-Alabama, the Alabama Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, will host a press conference as part of the #NoMuslimBanEver campaign.


CAIR-Alabama will be joined by the Stand As One coalition. This event will show the Supreme Court, the Trump administration, and the American public that the Muslim community, in alliance with many other communities under attack by this Administration, will continue to mobilize against Trump’s radical anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-refugee and white nationalist agenda.

Stand As One is a coalition of local grassroots organizations that envisions an Alabama where historically and systemically excluded communities wield collective power to guarantee their own safety, dignity, wellbeing, and liberation. Stand As One comes together in solidarity to help those communities build collective power through civic engagement, training, and rapid response to threats.



#NoMuslimBanEver is a coalition of nearly two hundred civil rights organizations engaged in legal, organizing and advocacy efforts to fight back against the Muslim ban. Many groups in the coalition, including the National Immigration Law Center, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Asian Law Caucus, MPower Change and the Council on American–Islamic Relations - SFBA work directly with impacted Muslim communities.

CAIR-Alabama is the state chapter of America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
