ACTION ALERT: Join CAIR-AL in Condemning & Seeking Apology From Rep.Mo Brooks Who Said Muslims Want to ‘Kill’ Every Gay Person in Nation
The Alabama Chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Alabama) today called on all state residents to join in its action alert condemning and seeking an apology from state Congressional Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL-05) for his Islamophobic and false allegation that the American Muslim community would “kill every homosexual in the United States of America” if it had its way. CAIR Alabama also welcomes Rep. Brooks to attend a Ramadan Interfaith Dinner at a local mosque so that he can engage in an open and frank dialogue with his American Muslim neighbors and constituents.

Following the mass-shooting in Orlando Rep. Brooks falsely claimed on the Matt & Aunie show on WAPI radio that “Democrats are in a perplexing position” because “On the one hand, they’re trying to appeal to the gay community, but, on the other hand, they’re trying to also appeal to the Muslim community, which, if it had its way, would kill every homosexual in the United States of America.”
“Congressman Brooks’ would seek to create division between the LGBTQIA and Muslim community standing shoulder-to-shoulder as we confront together hate crimes, bigotry, marginalization and discrimination” said CAIR-Alabama Executive Director Khaula Hadeed.
“American Muslims are committed to upholding equal rights and protections for all as the law of the land as enshrined in the U.S. Constitution” Hadeed added.
CAIR Alabama noted that Rep. Brook’s statement is even more unfortunate because of his past collaboration with Muslim constituents and professionals on legislation in the House of Representatives.
Following the Orlando shooting CAIR Alabama issued the following statement:
“Alabama Muslims join their fellow Americans in unequivocally and unconditionally denouncing Sunday’s mass shooting at a nightclub in Orlando. Individuals like Muhammad Ali represent true ideals of Islam, whereas the mass murderer Omar Mateen represents the enemies of the faith and indeed, of humanity.”
